Disaster Planning, Fail-over Options, BCP, RPO and RTO
While no one would ever Plan for a Disaster, pre-planning can definitely help if such a a situation were to occur. A recent airline computing disaster clearly demonstrated the effect of poor planning and execution! True planning is a specialty skill, but includes the following three components as a minimum;
- BCP - Business Continuity Planning determines what BUSINESS functions must be protected.
- RPO - The Recovery Point Objective is an agreed point looking backwards, at which data must be collected for recovery to be effective over a pre-determined period of time.
- RTO - is the maximum time looking forward, that it will take to bring your critical business functions, (Via BCP) back on board.

New technology provided for BlueCentral includes a variety of methods of backing up your data in a genuine way, across at least two divergent locations, for example hosting in Sydney and Melbourne. We use Symantec or EMC Avamar systems for this very efficient service.
Managed Back-up Offsite
Should you wish to have your backup copies kept off-site from our data centres, and managed by an independent third party, please request it, We have backup tapes taken off-site every day by a variety of companies.
